Mayor Edwin M. Lee issued this statement on the Executive Order banning immigration from seven Muslim countries:

“I commend the judge that granted the emergency stay today, allowing Muslim immigrants with valid visas to enter the United States.

As the son of Chinese immigrants, I am disgusted by the President’s Executive Order to target the Muslim community and ban immigrants from entering the United States.

Mayor Lee Announces Data Sharing Partnership with Waze to Minimize Congestion & Maximize Reliability for Drivers & Transit Riders

Mayor Edwin M. Lee today announced a new, free innovative data sharing partnership with Waze to help alleviate congestion in San Francisco, working in coordination with the Mayor’s Rush Hour Congestion Strategy. Through the Waze Connected Citizens Program, the City will publish data from across City departments that Waze can use – including information about road closures, construction, film shootings and special events, so drivers can find the best route to their destination, avoid blocked streets and decrease congestion when moving around San Francisco.

Mayor Lee Announces Improvements to Market Street Free Public Wi-Fi

Mayor Edwin M. Lee today announced that #SFWiFi, the City’s free municipal wireless Internet access (Wi-Fi) service, will receive technology upgrades along Market Street, the City’s busiest and most economically diverse corridor and home to some of the City’s largest, free public celebrations, including free events for Super Bowl 50, in time for Super Bowl week. Service expansions will also include #SFWiFi availability in five San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) stations along Market Street: Embarcadero, Montgomery, Powell, Civic Center and Van Ness.

Mayor Lee & Board President Breed Announce Public Health & Safety Bond to Expand Mental Health Services & Improve Earthquake Readiness & Emergency Response

Mayor Edwin M. Lee and Board President London Breed today announced a $350 million Public Health and Safety Bond on the June 2016 ballot. The initiative will expand access to mental health services for San Francisco residents, including homeless people living on the streets, and seismically upgrade and strengthen the City’s vital public health care facilities and emergency medical response infrastructure to ensure their viability after a major earthquake.
