Mayor Lee’s Statement on Passing of San Francisco Icon Wilkes Bashford

Mayor Edwin M. Lee today issued the following statement on the passing of San Francisco icon and civic leader Wilkes Bashford who lost his battle with cancer:

“San Francisco is deeply heartbroken by the sudden passing of Wilkes Bashford, the dapper business and civic leader that represented the best of our City.

I have great respect for Wilkes in creating the renowned world class Wilkes Bashford Company that started in downtown San Francisco in 1966 and has grown in success over the last five decades.

Mayor Lee’s Statement on Tragic Passing of City Employee Reynaldo Morante

Mayor Edwin M. Lee today issued the following statement on the death of cable car operator Reynaldo Morante, who was in a coma and on life support at Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center since June 2015 after he was struck by a suspected drunken motorcyclist:

“On behalf of the City and County of San Francisco, I extend my deepest condolences to the family of Reynaldo Morante who tragically died after being struck while on duty last year.

Mayor Lee Announces San Francisco’s Credit Rating Upgraded to Highest Grade in City History

Mayor Edwin M. Lee today announced major bond rating agencies have upgraded and affirmed San Francisco’s strong credit after the City met with Moody’s Investors Service (Moody’s), Standard & Poor’s (S&P) and Fitch Ratings (Fitch) in December 2015 in connection with the proposed sale of approximately $52.1 million in general obligation bonds to finance the construction, reconstruction, purchase and/or improvement of park and recreation facilities located within the City under the jurisdiction of the Recreation and Park or the Port of San Francisco.

Mayor Lee Announces More Than $250 Million Estimated Development Impact Fee Revenue For City Over Next Five Years

Mayor Edwin M. Lee today announced over the next five years, more than $250 million of development impact fee revenue is expected to be invested in several neighborhoods, including Rincon Hill, Market Octavia, Eastern Neighborhoods (comprised of East SoMa, Western SoMa, the Mission District, Showplace Square/Potrero, and Central Waterfront), Transit Center District, Balboa Park and Visitacion Valley, including the Schlage Lock Master Development.
