Mayor Lee’s Statement on Governor Brown’s Proposed Balanced Budget for California
Mayor Edwin M. Lee today issued the following statement regarding Governor Jerry Brown’s proposed 2016-17 balanced budget for the State of California:
“The Governor’s proposed budget balances long-term fiscal responsibility that pays down the State’s debt with immediate investments to keep our State’s economy thriving. This balanced budget invests billions more into schools and education, housing for low-income families and the homeless, transportation infrastructure, fighting climate change, and protecting health care and vital social services for our residents who need it most. I remain confident that California is headed in the right direction under the leadership of our Governor, and I foresee that these smart, strategic investments will allow all of our residents to share in the success and prosperity of our State.”
