Parks and Open Spaces

Increasing and improving the City’s open spaces and parks has been a cornerstone of Mayor Lee’s administration. Currently, there are more than 100 capital park projects in the works, and San Francisco recently became the first and only city in the nation where every resident lived within a 10-minute walk of a public open space.

Mayor Lee understands that residents want to live in neighborhoods that are clean, safe, and friendly. That’s why he started Fix-It, a City team dedicated to addressing quality-of-life issues in local communities. Whether it’s repainting crosswalks, picking up litter or repairing street lights, Fix-It is there for San Francisco neighborhoods.

Street Safety

In the past two years, San Francisco has completed more than 30 projects aimed at protecting pedestrians from traffic injuries. These safety upgrades include protected bike lanes, wider sidewalks and reduced traffic speeds on city streets. They are all part of the Mayor Lee’s Vision Zero plan—a goal to eliminate all traffic-related fatalities in San Francisco.
