Mayor Lee's Statement on Voter Approval of Earthquake Safety & Emergency Response Bond (Proposition A) on June Ballot

Mayor Edwin M. Lee today issued the following statement after San Francisco voters approved Proposition A, the $400 million Earthquake Safety and Emergency Response Bond to finance seismic and reliability upgrades to neighborhood fire and police stations, the high-pressure Emergency Water Firefighting System, and other critical City facilities:

“San Francisco voters are making smart investments in their City. I commend our City’s voters for putting San Francisco on a path towards greater resiliency. The approval of Proposition A allows the City to continue our important investments – without having to raise property tax rates – to improve vital facilities and infrastructure that our police and fire depend on during and after an earthquake or major disaster.”
