Mayor Edwin M. Lee today issued the following statement on the traffic patrol officer 8th and Bryant Streets:

“Our thoughts remain with the traffic patrol officer who sustained minor injuries while on duty. We wish her well for a speedy recovery.

This is not acceptable behavior. I am livid by the carelessness of the alleged driver who hit our City employee, and we will hold them fully accountable their criminal actions.

To keep the public safe when they are moving around our City, we are doubling down on our efforts to re-engineer and re-design our City streets to make them safer. We will continue implementing the City’s ongoing collaborative Vision Zero initiative to eliminate all traffic fatalities.”
