Mayor Lee’s Statement on Tragic Incident that Claimed the Life of Public Works Employee

Mayor Edwin M. Lee today issued the following statement:

“This is a tragedy, and I am deeply saddened by the circumstances surrounding the death of one of our own, a dedicated employee of Public Works.

This was a young man who worked very hard to build a good life for himself and his children, and was committed to his work keeping the City of San Francisco and our neighborhoods clean. This is a tragic instance of a life cut short.

I spoke with his family this afternoon and extended condolences on behalf of the City and County of San Francisco.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with his family, friends and colleagues during this time of mourning and sorrow.”

In honor of the employee, Mayor Edwin M. Lee has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff on City Hall from until sunset on Thursday December 1, 2016.
