Mayor Lee’s Statement on Passing of Bob Morales
Mayor Edwin M. Lee today issued the following statement on the passing of San Francisco Film Commissioner Robert Morales:
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Bob Morales, one of our great civic leaders who gave so much of his heart and soul to our City and our residents.
Bob was an immigrant born in El Salvador who joined the United States Army, obtaining the rank of Sergeant 5th Class and served to protect our country. He was a Member of the Metal Polishers & Plasterers AFL-CIO Union and Secretary-Treasurer for the teamsters Local 350. On the Film Commission, he worked closely with the City to promote the San Francisco Bay Area as a leading film destination worldwide, bringing jobs and economic development opportunities to our City.
We have lost a true hero of labor and a great friend. I offer my deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers to the family and friends of Bob Morales.”
