Jobs for Youth

Jobs for Youth (JFY) is a collaborative project created in partnership with the United Way of the Bay Area and the city of San Francisco.

As a community project of United Way of the Bay Area, Jobs for Youth (JFY) resides at the intersection of corporate social responsibility and business need. JFY provides employers with convenient, one-stop access to motivated and trained applicants, and an opportunity to demonstrate community leadership by leveraging the city's investment in workforce development among San Francisco's youth.

Jobs for Youth's Mission is to create pathways to the local business community that enable young people to strengthen their foundation for success. JFY works to facilitate youth employment activities within San Francisco's private sector by:
  • connecting the employer community with enthusiastic pre-screened and trained youth, ages 14-24.
  • serving as one point of contact for entry-level employment needs, and providing ongoing support to employers of youth.
  • supporting businesses with their short and long-term community-engagement goals by linking them to work-based learning activities such as career speakers in classrooms, job shadowing and student mentoring programs.
