Mayor Edwin M. Lee today issued the following statement commemorating World AIDS Day and remembering those lost to the HIV/AIDS epidemic:

“Today, on World AIDS Day, we remember those precious lives lost to this terrible disease and recommit ourselves to finding a cure and providing hope to those living with HIV/AIDS.

San Francisco remains a national leader in treatment, housing and care for those living with HIV/AIDS and we will continue our prevention efforts and the vital medical research that will one day bring an end to this epidemic.”

In honor of World AIDS Day, Mayor Lee has ordered City Hall to be lit in Red.
