In celebration of the 45th anniversary of Earth Day, Mayor Edwin M. Lee today launched the new “Zero-50-100-Roots” campaign aimed towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions and reinforcing the City’s leadership in addressing climate change. The “Zero-50-100-Roots” campaign demonstrates San Francisco’s commitment to send zero waste to the landfill, reach 50 percent sustainable travel, use 100 percent renewable energy and pull carbon dioxide out of the air.

Mayor Lee Announces Expanded Summer Programs to Eliminate Wait Lists for City’s Children & Youth

Mayor Edwin M. Lee today announced an additional $1.8 million in funding to support programming to keep San Francisco children and youth engaged and learning over the summer months. The additional funds, which were approved by San Francisco voters in November 2014 as part of Proposition C, will help ensure that all children and youth have access to high quality summer programs at school and community-based sites throughout San Francisco.

Mayor Lee & Supervisor Farrell Introduce Reforms to City’s Short-Term Rental Law

Mayor Edwin M. Lee and Supervisor Farrell introduced amendments to streamline and strengthen the City’s current short-term rentals law. The legislation, which will make the City’s current short-term rental law more enforceable and protect the City’s supply of rental housing for San Franciscans, is based on months of feedback and dialogue with homesharers, housing and tenant advocates, the private sector and city agencies, including the Planning Department.

Mayor Edwin M. Lee joined the Board of Supervisors, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), Walk San Francisco and other City partners and agencies participated in the third annual Walk to Work Day. As part of the City’s commitment to Vision Zero, a plan to eliminate all traffic deaths in San Francisco by 2024, Mayor Lee announced that just yesterday, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC)’s Programming and Allocations Committee took a key step toward awarding $3.5 million in new funds to support San Francisco’s Vision Zero efforts.
