Mayor Lee Announces Full Funding for GoSolarSF & Celebrates Installation of New Solar Array at Davies Symphony Hall

Mayor Edwin M. Lee today announced that the City’s successful solar initiative, GoSolarSF, will be fully funded at $10 million over the next two fiscal years. Mayor Lee made the announcement at the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC)’s celebration of the newly installed 558-panel, 182 kW solar system on the roof of the Louise M. Davies Symphony Hall, which brings the City’s total municipal solar generating capacity to more than 7.6 megawatts.

Mayor Lee Highlights Housing Progress in San Francisco

Mayor Edwin M. Lee today at the grand opening of the Rene Cazenave Apartments, highlighted the City’s progress toward his ambitious housing goal of bringing 30,000 new and rehabilitated homes to the City by 2020, with at least one-third of those permanently affordable, and the majority within financial reach of the middle class. In the first quarter of 2014, 2,123 housing units opened to provide new homes to families in San Francisco, with 24 percent of those units permanently affordable to low-income households.
 

Mayor Lee & Supervisor Cohen Announce Milestone in Schlage Lock Visitacion Valley Project

Mayor Edwin M. Lee and Supervisor Malia Cohen today announced the introduction of a development agreement for the Schlage Lock Development project with Universal Paragon Corporation (UPC). The agreement will transform 20 acres of vacant land at the site of the former Schlage Lock factory in Visitacion Valley into a livable, mixed-use urban community with nearly 1,700 housing units affordable to low and middle income families and well-designed parks, open space and transit accessibility that blends into the urban fabric of the Visitacion Valley neighborhood.

Mayor Lee & Supervisor Farrell Announce Online Town Hall on City’s Budget

Mayor Edwin M. Lee and Board of Supervisors Budget Chair Mark Farrell today announced an Online Budget Town Hall to engage the public in the City’s budget process and ask residents for ideas on how to balance the City’s two-year budget. The current projected two-year budget shortfalls are $66.7 million in FY 2014-15 and $133.4 million in FY 2015-16.

Mayor Edwin M. Lee and leading global property developer Tishman Speyer today announced that LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional network on the Internet, has signed a lease for the entire 26-story building under construction at 222 Second Street. The City’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development estimates that the nearly 450,000 square feet of office space can accommodate approximately 2,500 jobs in San Francisco.
