Mayor Lee’s Statement on City College of San Francisco Accreditation

Mayor Edwin M. Lee today issued the following statement on the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office 2015 Task Force on Accreditation Report on the State’s community colleges including City College of San Francisco (CCSF):

“I agree with the recommendations for Chancellor Harris to establish a new model for accrediting our State’s community colleges. Given the difficult history of the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, I am glad to see this issue being raised. Community college students throughout the State should not have to suffer the same uncertainty our own City College students had to endure for more than two years.

We know City College is critically important to our City’s future. I am proud of the work we have done together to reform and revitalize our City College to ensure its success. With my appointment of Alex Randolph, we will work together with the entire City College Board of Trustees, Special Trustee Dr. Guy Lease, Interim Chancellor Susan Lamb and the City College community to keep strengthening and improving City College, so we continue to provide hope and an affordable college education for every San Franciscan.”

Statement from City College Trustee Alex Randolph:

“San Franciscans deserve nothing less than a fully accredited and thriving City College so our residents have access to critical education and workforce training to compete and succeed in the 21st Century economy. It is time to put our students first!”
