Mayor Lee’s Statement on Voter Approval of November 2014 Ballot Measures

Mayor Edwin M. Lee today issued the following statement after San Francisco voters approved Proposition A (improves public transportation with $500 million transportation bond), Proposition C (renews and strengthens our Children’s Fund and Public Education Enrichment Fund), Proposition I (renovation of playgrounds, walking trails, and athletic fields), Proposition J (gradually increases San Francisco’s minimum wage to $15per hour by 2018) and Proposition K (supports the City’s housing goals):

“San Francisco voters continue to make smart investments in their City. By working together, we are accomplishing great things to make our City more affordable. San Francisco will soon have the highest minimum wage in the country. We have taken a major step toward delivering a reliable, safe, and affordable transportation network and we now have a voter mandate to build 30,000 homes by 2020 with at least half within reach of low and middle income families. And we will invest in our schools and our families so we can do even more to prepare our young people for their future. I want to thank our voters in San Francisco for recognizing that affordability starts with a decent wage, a place to live, quality educational programs and a place to call home – all without raising property tax rates.

We will continue to help families succeed in our City.”
