Mayor Lee’s Statement on City College of San Francisco Accreditation

Mayor Edwin M. Lee today issued the following statement on the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC)’s decision to grant Restoration Status to City College of San Francisco (CCSF):

“City College is critically important to our City’s social and economic future. Our City’s economy depends on it and our students deserve nothing less than a fully accredited and thriving City College. I am proud of the work we did together to reform and revitalize this institution to ensure its long term success. City College continues to make sure San Franciscans have access to critical education and workforce training to compete and succeed in the 21st Century economy.

I thank the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges for their reconsideration and decision to keep City College open, providing hope and an affordable college opportunity for every San Franciscan.”

Under Restoration Status, CCSF will remain accredited and have two years to come into full compliance with all Eligibility Requirements, Accreditation Standards, and Commission policies. CCSF will next be reviewed by ACCJC in January 2017. During this period, CCSF will have access to ACCJC’s technical assistance and training processes.
