Mayor Lee’s Statement on Golden State Warriors Starting NBA Playoffs

Mayor Edwin M. Lee today issued the following statement as the Golden State Warriors start the NBA playoff season this weekend:

“The San Francisco Bay Area is filled with Warriors pride as our amazing home team basketball heroes enter into the NBA playoffs this weekend.

San Francisco Bay Area Warriors fans now turn their attention to what will no doubt be exhilarating playoff games after a fantastic season capped off with a record-breaking performance by Stephen Curry who now holds the all-time record for three-pointers made in a single season.

The Golden State Warriors have been the Bay Area’s basketball team for 50 years, and San Francisco stands behind the Warriors with high hopes for a successful playoff season. Congratulations to a remarkable Warriors team, the entire Golden State Warriors organization and the many fans in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. GO WARRIORS!”

Mayor Lee has ordered the Golden State Warriors team flag to be flown from City Hall’s balcony beginning Saturday, April 20th – the first game day of the Round One NBA playoffs against the Denver Nuggets. Mayor Lee has also ordered City Hall be lit in Blue & Gold to reflect the City’s passion and enthusiasm for the Golden State Warriors in the playoff season.

Mayor Lee is encouraging Warriors fans from across the Bay Area to join the Warriors on the Waterfront in San Francisco and frequent their neighborhood establishments to watch the Championship games and don the Blue & Gold.
