One-on-One Assistance

If you need one-on-one assistance to learn about what benefits are available to you, understand what plan is right for you, and fill out your application, you can:

  • Call Covered California at 1-800-300-1506.
    • The hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 8:00pm and Saturday 8:00am - 6:00pm.
  • Visit SF BenefitsNet
    • 1440 Harrison, San Francisco, CA/  The hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.

Medi-Cal A free Federal and State healthcare program that provides low to no-cost health insurance. It provides comprehensive coverage and a wide selection of primary care doctors so you can find the doctor you want U.S. Citizen and certain legal immigrants Available to anyone with a Family income at or below 138% of the Federal Poverty Level. ($15,865 for family with one person or $35,507 for a family with four people)
Covered CA This is California's new, easy-to-use marketplace where you and your family may get financial assistance to make coverage more affordable and where you will be able to compare and choose health coverage that best fits your needs and budget. U.S. Citizen and certain legal immigrants No income limits. But, you will qualify for a discount ("tax credit") on your monthly out-of-pocket costs if your family's income is at or below 400% of the Federal Poverty Level. ($45,984 for family with one person or $94,224 for a family with 4 persons)
Healthy San Francisco A City and County program that provides health care access to eligible uninsured adults with the San Francisco boundaries. But, Healthy San Francisco is not health insurance - it will not protect you outside of San Francisco, does not provide the full range of benefits that health insurance provides, and will not meet the Affordable Care Act’s requirement that individuals have health insurance by January 1, 2014. Any uninsured San Francisco resident ages 18-64 who is NOT eligible for health insurance through Medi-Cal or Covered CA. 0-500% of the Federal Poverty Level.
($57,480 for an individual with one person or $117,780 with 4 persons).

What if I am not eligible to purchase health insurance?
