Mayor Newsom Welcomes San Francisco Residents & Families To City Hall Holiday Open House
San Francisco to Open City Hall Doors to Public on Sunday, December 12th from 2 – 5 p.m. with Holiday Snow Park, Mobile Zoo & Other Family Activities in Civic Center Plaza
12/6/2010- Mayor Gavin Newsom and First Lady Jennifer Siebel Newsom today announced that City Hall will open its doors and offices to the public for the first-ever City Hall Holiday Open House on Sunday, December 12 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. Civic Center Plaza will also host family activities this Sunday, including a first-ever children’s snow park and a mobile zoo.
“The holidays are a time for family and friends to gather in celebration of all we have to be thankful for and the new year ahead,” said Mayor Newsom. “This Sunday, Jennifer and I want to invite families from across the City to join us at City Hall in honor of the season at our Holiday Open House.”
This event is free and open to the public and will provide guests with an opportunity to meet the Mayor, tour City Hall and connect with many of the City’s elected officials and departments’ staff. Many Supervisors and other elected officials will also be opening their offices to the public. Guests will be treated to holiday cookies, hot cocoa and entertainment by Magik Magik Orchestra.
Also, Mayor Newsom is asking guests to support the San Francisco Food Bank’s Holiday Food Drive by bringing nonperishable food items to the open house. No one should go hungry over the holidays or any time of the year.
The snow park will be open from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. in Civic Center’s Joseph L. Alioto Performing Arts Piazza. It will include a snow run for young children and a snow play area for babies. There will also be jumpy houses and holiday music. A mobile zoo for children will also be onsite from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
