Mayor London Breed on U.S Supreme Court Ruling on Census 2020 Citizenship Question
“Everyone in our community needs to feel safe responding to the 2020 Census and being counted. San Francisco will keep building trust with our immigrant communities and working with community-based organizations and trusted messengers to make sure the Census reaches everyone in our City.
The Census only happens every ten years, and its results determine our political representation and our share of federal dollars for transportation, health, safety, emergency services, and other critical programs. To be clear, the Trump administration wanted to include a question about citizenship on the 2020 Census to scare our immigrant communities into silence. The stakes for San Francisco and everyone who lives here are too high for our residents to not be counted.”
