Mayor Lee’s Statement on Passing of Anita Sanchez
Mayor Edwin M. Lee today issued the following statement on the passing of Anita Sanchez, the former Executive Officer of the San Francisco Civil Service Commission:
“On behalf of the City and County of San Francisco, I would like to express my sympathies to the family and friends of Anita Sanchez, a great colleague and friend who lost her hard fought battle with cancer.
Anita retired in 2012 after 25 years of distinguished public service to the people of San Francisco. Her impressive 36-year public service career included working for Mayor Dianne Feinstein, Mayor Art Agnos and then Assemblymember Barbara Lee before joining the San Francisco Civil Service Commission.
She will be remembered for many things, but most of all, for her commitment to the educational and economic advancement and empowerment of the Filipino and Filipino-American community.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with her family and friends at this time of great sorrow and reflection.”
