Mayor Edwin M. Lee today issued the following statement regarding the announced retirement of San Francisco Juvenile Probation Department Chief Probation Officer William P. Siffermann:



“Under the leadership of Chief Siffermann, the Juvenile Probation Department has created a unique and effective intervention model to serve San Francisco youth and families involved with the juvenile justice system. Holding youth accountable for their actions while providing them with education, training and opportunities, Chief Siffermann has provided our young people with hope for a better future.



Our communities are safer because of his commitment and focus on reducing juvenile crime and recidivism rates. I applaud Chief Siffermann for his outstanding work and thank him for his service to the youth and families of our City.”
