Mayor Lee on Rollback of FCC Internet Privacy Protections

“San Francisco residents deserve internet service they can trust. However, this administration and Republicans have chosen the business interests of large corporations above the privacy and consumer rights of the American people.

By repealing broadband privacy rules proposed by the FCC, Congress has stripped critical privacy protections of Americans. Additionally, the administration has indicated a willingness to roll back net neutrality safeguards, a move that would limit access to websites and significantly harm our innovation economy.

The result could be a future where users have little privacy and the internet is controlled by powerful broadband companies.

In San Francisco, we will continue to fight against such policies, and advocate for common sense measures that keep the internet safe, open, and accessible to all.”
