Mayor Lee on Mexico Earthquake
“My heart breaks for the people of Mexico following yesterday’s earthquake. I am sending my deepest sympathies and condolences to all the families affected by this tragic event, including the many thousands of Mexican-American residents living in San Francisco who have relatives in Mexico.
While our beloved neighbors in Mexico rebuild, San Francisco will be willing and ready to help during the recovery efforts. As a place with our own painful history of natural disasters, we feel a special obligation to offer aid and assistance for cities stricken by earthquakes.
Following a major event such as this, it is important to remind our own residents to have an emergency plan in place and disaster supply kits in their home. For more information on how to prepare for the next major event, our residents can visit www.sf72.org.”
