Mayor Edwin M. Lee today issued the following statement on the passing of San Franciscan Warren Hinckle:

“Today, San Francisco mourns the loss of Warren Hinckle, whose wit, irreverence and dedication to the common good were an integral part of our City by the Bay.

Warren’s journalism career began with Hunter S. Thompson, and included editing Ramparts and Scanlan’s Monthly, writing in the Independent, Chronicle and Examiner and publishing the Argonaut.  Whatever the outlet and whenever the time, Warren remained true by comforting the afflicted and afflicting the comfortable.  His contributions to our great City will always be remembered and his commitment to the written word and the body politic will be missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter Pia, his longtime partner Linda Corso, and his many family and friends at this difficult time.”
